Philip Bates has been in full-time practice since 1996 and prior to that,
was a full-time legal academic. He still engages in part-time academia as a
Conjoint Professor at the University of Newcastle and as a casual Adjunct at
the University of Sydney.
He now practices law as a barrister full-time in common law, equity,
commercial, defamation, personal injury and appellate jurisdictions.
Philip is a foundation and consultant editor to two CCH looseleaf services:
"Australian Health & Medical Law Reporter"; and "Australian Professional
Liability - Medical".
In addition, Philip is fully accredited by the NSW Bar Association
www.nswbar.asn.au to conduct all major types of Alternative Dispute
Resolution ('ADR') as either an (a) Arbitrator; (b) Mediator; or (c) Expert
Determiner, respectively, for all private or public disputes. Philip is
also on the mediator panels for Supreme Court and District Court litigation,
and an on the arbitrator panel for District Court litigation.
